# Export to CSV

> Download a table as a CSV file from the Auxilian web app.

Anyone who can open a project, including people with read access, can export its tables.

## Export a table

Open the table and select **Export** in the header. Your browser downloads a file named after the table, such as `books.csv`.

## File format

| Property | Value |
| - | - |
| Encoding | UTF-8 |
| Line endings | CRLF (`\r\n`) |
| Header row | Column names, in table order, including `id` and `created_at` |
| Row order | Oldest first, by `created_at` |
| Maximum rows | 10,000 |
| `NULL` | Empty field |
| `timestamptz` | ISO 8601 in UTC, such as `2026-11-03T09:00:00.000Z` |
| `jsonb` | JSON text |

Fields that contain commas, quotes, or line breaks are wrapped in double quotes, with inner quotes doubled.

### Spreadsheet safety

When a `text` value starts with `=`, `+`, `-`, `@`, a tab, or a carriage return, the export adds a leading `'`. This stops spreadsheet apps from running the value as a formula. Remove the `'` if you need the original value.

## Tables with more than 10,000 rows

The export contains the oldest 10,000 rows. The response includes the header `x-auxilian-truncated: true` when rows were left out.

To get the rest, ask Claude to read the newer rows with `list_rows`, filtering on `created_at`, or split the data across tables.

<Tip>
Export before dropping a table or column, or deleting a project. Auxilian can't restore data after those actions.
