# Other MCP clients

> Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth.

Auxilian works with any MCP client that supports the Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth 2.1 authorization. Every client uses the same server URL:

```text theme={null}
https://mcp.auxilian.ai/mcp
```

The first time a client connects, it opens a browser window where you sign in with Google and approve access. You never paste an API key.

## Client setup

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Claude Code">
    Add the server from your terminal:

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude mcp add --transport http auxilian https://mcp.auxilian.ai/mcp
    ```

    Then start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, select **auxilian**, and choose **Authenticate** to sign in and approve.

    To make the server available in every project, add `--scope user` to the `claude mcp add` command.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Cursor">
    Add Auxilian to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (one project):

    ```json mcp.json theme={null}
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "auxilian": {
          "url": "https://mcp.auxilian.ai/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    ```

    Open **Cursor Settings** > **MCP** and select **Connect** or **Login** next to **auxilian** to sign in and approve.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="VS Code">
    Add Auxilian to `.vscode/mcp.json` in your workspace:

    ```json .vscode/mcp.json theme={null}
    {
      "servers": {
        "auxilian": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://mcp.auxilian.ai/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    ```

    Select **Start** above the server entry. VS Code prompts you to sign in and approve.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Other clients">
    Configure a remote MCP server with:

    | Setting | Value |
    | - | - |
    | Transport | Streamable HTTP |
    | URL | `https://mcp.auxilian.ai/mcp` |
    | Authentication | OAuth 2.1 (discovered automatically) |

    Leave client ID and secret empty. Auxilian supports Client ID Metadata Documents and dynamic client registration, so the client registers itself. See [Authorization](/mcp/authorization) for the endpoints.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Tip>
  Client menus change between releases. If a step above doesn't match what you see, follow your client's documentation for adding a remote MCP server with OAuth.
</Tip>

## Requirements for client developers

If you are building an MCP client, Auxilian expects:

* **Streamable HTTP.** The server is stateless and returns JSON responses. It does not issue session IDs or stream responses over SSE.
* **OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256).** Discover the authorization server from the protected resource metadata. See [Authorization](/mcp/authorization).
* **A browser for sign-in.** The user signs in with Google and approves on a consent page. Embedding these pages in a frame is blocked.
